David Edwards has spent a great deal of his career on theatrical stages on “dry land,” as an actor on and off-Broadway, but he is truly a sailor at heart. His parents met while travelling aboard the Olympia, testimony to his claim of having “seawater in his veins.”
From an early age, he became an avid collector of ocean liner memorabilia and books.
David’s first experience working as an entertainer on cruise ships was as part of the four-person troupe Showtime at Sea singing and dancing aboard the SS Independence for American Hawaii Cruises.
Soon after, he was the “boy singer” and assistant cruise director for Royal Caribbean Cruise Line aboard such vessels as the M.S. Nordic Prince and M.S Sun Viking working alongside legendary cruise director Ray Rouse.
He moved on to become headline cabaret performer and principal singer aboard the ultra-deluxe Sagafjord and Vistafjord and the famed QE2 for Cunard Line, entertaining guests on European, South Pacific, and World Cruises.
After several years “at sea,” David left the floating stages to further pursue his career in legit theatre. He continued working in nightclubs shoreside as well, performing his cabaret act at such New York night spots as The Fives, Don’t Tell Mama, and La Belle Epoque.
David also wrote about his experiences aboard ship with articles published in Show Business Weekly.
Now, after years of experience as a successful actor on and off-Broadway, regional theatre, and television, David Edwards returns to the entertainment roster aboard cruise liners with a unique menu of cabaret and lecture skills.
